‘In response to all this shit weather’

This shit weather has got me to thinking. Besides being the a royal pain in the kiester, it is creating some ‘snow days’. So if you get stuck in Key West rather than Atlanta or any other airport for that matter, with proof of course, and we have the space available, how does half off on your room sound? Yep, we will offer the night you are stuck at half the normal rate (not discounted), […]

Some more of Heaven

A little insider info – Bonnie & Clyde Restaurant (their site is a work in progress). These guys are great. I’ve been saying for years, “all Key West needs is some Creole food and the island will be perfect.” Well we have it now and I can’t say enough about the food, the service and the ambiance. Not to mention a full liquor license. The only drawback is that they are located in new town. […]

Another one bites the dust

Yep, the Blond Giraffe is leaving our lovely island. They said biz was down over 10% and they are closing all five locations on the island. Yikes! Five locations? The island is 4.5 by 1.5 miles. Not a great business plan, you think? Have no fear, we still have Kermits and he makes a hell of pie. Not to mention the chocolate covered pie on a stick. Kermit is on the corners of Green and […]

This Season To Give Thanks and Help Others

One of the Eden House’s favorite groups to give to each monthly is the Fugees. Take a few minutes and read what they are all about and I am sure you will agree. I read about them in Sports Illustrated several years ago and was bitten. Amazon is donating 6% of what you purchase from Amazon to the Fugees. It doesn’t cost you extra penny to donate – DA. I do lots of my shopping […]

A little bit of Heaven

Just a block from the Eden House, Old Town Bakery is rapidly becoming one of my favorite Key West lunch spots. I am trying to stay away from the desserts and that is tough there. This is a photo of a lunch a couple of days past. Turkey sandwich on fresh baked dark rye bread, pickle soup (don’t scoff) and a Mexican Coke (bottled in Mexico using cane sugar). A heavenly combination of flavors. The […]

Ragnar Relay

Woo Nellie. The Ragnar Relay participants just keep booking so we decided to do something special for you guys. We are going to lay out a small spread for you Rangnars on Sunday morning- bagels, fresh fruit, danish, juice and coffee. Make sure to pick out an Eden House hat or visor on your way out the door (we want that free advertising). Just remember we are all winners! See ya Mike and Elizabeth

‘It Came From Memphis’

Post by on July 5, 2010

I’ve only passed through Memphis but the book I’m reading makes me want to head that way and soak up some of their culture (is Bar B-Q culture?).  The Book is ‘It Came From Memphis’ by Robert Gordon.  Here are a couple quotes from the book.  Lash LaRue says in a soft voice, ” I have no home in the universe.  I am hunted by the police of Jupiter and the police of Earth.  My […]

Cut Back on Your Soap Bubba

Not you personally, your laundry soap.  Colleen has been bugging me for years to cut back on the laundry detergent and now this.  I’m not sure which irritates me the most, her being right or me being wrong.  According to this article I have been using way too much soap – figures.  But it is the American way, isn’t it?  More is better?  The reciept for making your own soap is interesting. Any thoughts on […]

Food For Thought

Here are a couple quotes that I would like to share with you. “Fanaticism consist of redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim.” George Santayana, quoted in Esquire “After one look at this planet, any visitor from outer space would say, ‘I want to see the manager’.” William S. Burroughs quoted in Wired “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” Albert Einstein quoted in Forbes.com Just a little somthing […]

Great Summer Fares!!!!

Elizabeth is back in the saddle and this means time for another blog. She just ran across this great deal on flights from Washington, DC to key West round trip. $218 for the flight and with Elizabeth’s special for September how can you go wrong…don’t answer that. Check it out and hope to see you by the pool this summer. Still no oil and counting. Mike

Something to sink your teeph into.

Post by on June 7, 2010

The Bradster just popped through his first two teeph.  He is resting easier and has resumed  taking calls.  The new teeph are on the bottom gum and Elizabeth has noticed gnaw marks on his bassinet. She suspects he is planning to make a break for it.  Brady and family are heading to a family reunion in North Carolina and then on to the college world series for a game on Father’s Day.  Does it get any […]
